OFFICIALLY: Robert “Rob” Evans is an award-winning visual artist, designer and creative director whose work combines fine-art expression with the technical rigor of brand design.

Based in Lisbon, Portugal, he leads EVANS MADE, creating original paintings, limited-edition prints and objects informed by vintage American visual culture, mechanical forms, retro graphics and hand-crafted design. Evans brings more than 20 years of spatial and visual-design experience to his art practice, with a process that begins in sketching and experimentation and may incorporate digital mastering for museum-quality editions. His career also includes leadership in branding and advertising.

As principal and creative director of HEYDAY Branding & Creative, and previously as principal of Robert Evans Advertising and evenswell advertising, he has developed brand strategies, identities, integrated campaigns, print collateral, packaging, web and interactive media, photography, video and promotional experiences.

Rob began his professional career in art direction with The Boner Group and McAlear and Associates. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from Flagler College. Key skills include creative direction, branding, art direction, graphic design, illustration, photography, packaging, campaign development and visual storytelling.

UNOFFICIALLY: Rob is the kind of person who sees a pile of parts, a questionable tool and a vague idea as a perfectly reasonable Saturday.

A relentless tinkerer, builder and maker of exceedingly cool things, he has built his own Harley-Davidson, keeps a vintage Land Rover Discovery alive through a mixture of mechanical skill, stubbornness and what may occasionally be supernatural intervention, and approaches nearly everything with the curiosity of a designer who refuses to leave well enough alone.

When Rob is not creating, repairing or improving something, he and his wife and daughter are likely somewhere in the world collecting stories, inspiration and possibly more items that will need to fit into luggage. After several years of perpetual travel, the family has settled in Portugal, where they now hold dual citizenship and have apparently decided one passport was simply not enough adventure.

Rob is wildly creative and an exceptional storyteller—qualities that make him both an excellent conversationalist and a potentially hazardous person to ask, “So, what do you think?” Plan accordingly. Bring snacks. Maybe clear your calendar.
